Our back-to-school rituals
September is, in a way, the real start of the year. After the summer, we long for fresh starts, new habits and a little order. Here are our rituals for easing into it gently.
Sorting through your wardrobe
Take everything out, try it all on, and keep what you truly love and actually wear. What no longer suits you can be given away, sold or swapped. Fewer pieces, but pieces you love: the wardrobe can breathe again, and mornings become simpler.
Getting your knitwear ready
Before the first cold snap, bring your jumpers out of their summer storage. A gentle wash in cold water, drying flat, a quick pass of a knit comb over any little bobbles: they're ready for the season. All our advice is in Caring for your knitwear.
Getting back into your routine
A new notebook, a morning coffee before the city wakes, a walk to work. Small routines make for good days.
Treat yourself to one piece, just one
Rather than refreshing everything, choose one piece that will set the tone for the season: a beautiful jumper, a warm cardigan, a colour you wouldn't usually dare to wear. Just one, but well chosen.
