A Sunday in the 11th
The Maison is based on Boulevard Voltaire, in the heart of the 11th arrondissement. A lively neighbourhood, at once down-to-earth and chic, which we love to wander once the week draws to a close. Here is our ideal Sunday, with no alarm clock and no packed schedule.
Morning: the market
We start early, basket or tote bag over the shoulder, with a wander round the market. Seasonal flowers, fruit for the week, a piece of cheese to share. Neighbourhood markets are the soul of Paris: you bump into the neighbours and take the time to chat.
Coffee on a terrace
Second stop, and not to be missed: a coffee on a café terrace, in the sunshine if possible. We watch the world go by, leaf through a book and never once check the time. It is often here that our collection ideas are born: a colour glimpsed on a coat, a way of knotting a scarf.
Afternoon: wandering
Then we walk, with nowhere in particular to go. Along the Canal Saint-Martin, through the little streets around Oberkampf, past artists' studios and independent shops. Paris is best discovered on foot, and the 11th more than any other arrondissement.
What we wear
For a Sunday like this, there is just one rule: comfort without sacrificing style. A light knit, straight-leg jeans, white trainers and a roomy bag for the market. A simple outfit that carries you from morning to evening.
