The art of the Parisian picnic
As soon as the fine weather arrives, Paris moves outdoors. On the riverbanks, in the parks, beside the canal: the picnic is a true Parisian art de vivre. Ours needs very little.
The right spot
The banks of the Seine at the end of the day, when the light turns golden. The Canal Saint-Martin, for the atmosphere. Or a quieter garden, in the shade of a great tree. What matters: a patch of grass and a lovely view.
The basket
No need to spend hours in the kitchen. A baguette, two or three cheeses, tomatoes, seasonal fruit, something cool to drink. Add a large tablecloth, cloth napkins and glasses that won't break. And to carry it all, a tote bag does the job perfectly.
Thinking about the way home
A good picnic leaves no trace: take your rubbish with you and choose reusable containers. A small gesture that keeps our favourite spots beautiful for everyone.
What to wear
An outfit you can sit on the grass in without a second thought: a light top, flowing trousers or a skirt, flat sandals. And a fine knit to drape over your shoulders as the sun goes down: evenings by the water are always cooler than you think.
