Finding your size in knitwear
Ordering a jumper online always involves a small gamble on size. Knitwear doesn't behave like a shirt: it stretches, it relaxes, and every design has its own cut. Here is how to put the odds in your favour.
1. Check the fit on the product page
On every product page, a small scale shows whether the design runs small, true to size or large. It's the first thing to look at: a design that runs large can be taken one size down, and one that runs small one size up.
2. Read the cut
The description specifies the cut: fitted, straight, slightly oversized, oversized… An oversized cut is deliberately roomy: take your usual size and you'll get the intended effect. If you prefer a closer fit, you can go down a size.
3. Compare with a piece you love
The most reliable method is to measure a jumper you wear often: lay it flat, measure its width from armpit to armpit and its length, then compare with the measurements on the product page, where available.
4. Consult the size guide
Our size guide gives size conversions between countries (France, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy) along with bust, waist and hip measurements.
5. Between two sizes?
For knitwear, go for the larger size: a slightly loose jumper always looks good, while one that's too tight pulls and loses its shape. For one-size designs (S/M, M/L), choose according to the size you wear most often.
And if it doesn't fit?
